Thank you for visiting Some Sugar Added!
I'm a full-time PR executive, wife and new mom with a healthy appetite. I grew up in Vermont, but have lived in Jersey for the last 10 years, so I enjoy everything from camping and mountains to the city and the beach. I have always had a passion for food and living healthfully, and Some Sugar Added is a place for me to share my cooking adventures, family traditions, hobbies, and general happenings of my husband Matt, son Riker, daughter Carson, dog Butters and cat Maui.
For me, living a healthy lifestyle is all about balance. Our philosophy is simple: homemade is best (and the most fun), organic whenever possible, and let yourself live a little - not a lot of sugar, not NO sugar...just some sugar. I've been cooking since I was 12 and am always looking for creative ways to make healthy meals, but we also enjoy our fair share of wine, craft beers and meals out. I love experiencing life through meals with friends and family. I'm a pescatarian (a fancy way of saying I eat seafood, but no other meats), but my husband is a full-blown omnivore, so you'll see everything from tofu to smoked chicken on this blog.
While I love blogging about food, I am not a registered dietitian. Any nutrition facts I post are based on my own calculations for my own use, and may not be 100% accurate.
I'd love to hear from you! Please feel free to contact me at SomeSugarAdded@Gmail.com.
Love this, Melissa! :) Heather V.
